Can ANYONE believe that CARL HOOPER (of all people) was chosen
to captain the West Indies Cricket
team in the upcoming series vs. South Africa? |
|
|
This is a clearly a terrible choice by the WICA selection board. Do honor,
integrity, and leadership count for nothing?
Please join me (and Sir
Garfield Sobers, amongst others) in boycotting ALL West Indies Cricket until
the WICA makes proper amends! Hit 'em where it hurts, the pocket book!
That's all I have to say about that. |

From: "Doug Piper" ...a couple of photos of Deacon's Primary School,
for your enjoyment. Fairly simple structure, made of CMU and coral stone
(Interesting tidbit to share with your friends & family: The entire island
of Barbados is made of coral that was pushed up by tectonic plate movement.
Barbados is the only non-volcanic island in the Caribbean.) This is the only
school I know of which is pink. Obviously they didn't ask my advice me any say
in the colors.... Note that the water tower in picture #2 is made entirely of
cast in place concrete; that freaks me out.

...a picture of my Korean big [fraternity] brother, Donald Lee Song. He
visited last December .
Ok the picture shows (left to right): Ron (who is managing some factory
down here), Tina (his wife), Melanie (my erstwhile colleague), some dork, and
Don Song (my big brother). |

Here are some picts. of the beach, my truck (the Barbadians call
it a van), and my place, and my place to relax, read, and have a beverage.

Okay, so it's not ALL work and NO play.

If I get up early
and put in 1/2 on Sat, I can manage to make the
Hash (a drinking
group w/ a running problem) each Saturday @ 3:30, if I so chose.
So if I go to the hash, and run (ok, I've yet to run an
entire hash) for about and hour, I get to hang out and drink
beer, shandy, rum, or soda for B$2 each (US $1), and sometimes
we stay to grill as well.
Attached herewith is a photo of me
NOT at the office, but, rather, enjoying a richly deserved
Banks
(the beer of Barbados) after an unusually well conceived
hash. What a great view, eh?
